Applying to our open positions is easy!

  1. First, locate job announcements for any open positions at Job Openings or Regional Job Openings. If you are eligible, we encourage you to apply. In addition, you can find all Department of Labor vacancies at http://www.jobs.dol.gov.
  2. Next, read the job announcement carefully and follow the application instructions for that position to apply. The application method varies so read all instructions first before submitting.
  3. Last, send the completed application to OPM or BLS by the announcement closing date to receive consideration.

What should you expect after you apply?

  1. Applications are reviewed to ensure that all applicable educational or qualification requirements are met.
  2. All applicants will receive a letter acknowledging receipt of the application and qualification status.
  3. All qualified applications are rated and ranked, and a score is calculated. Points are added to applications that receive special consideration such as veterans preference if applicable.
  4. A Certificate of Eligibles, a list of the applicants with the highest final scores, is created.
  5. The Certificate of Eligibles and eligible applications are then sent to the selecting official, and the interview selection process begins.
  6. Selections are made ... It could be YOU!
