Real average hourly earnings up over the month and over the year

Real average hourly earnings for all employees rose 0.3 percent from January to February 2014, seasonally adjusted. This stems from a 0.4-percent increase in average hourly earnings partially offset by a 0.1-percent increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U).

Over the month, real average weekly earnings were unchanged in February 2014. A 0.3-percent increase in real average hourly earnings was offset by a 0.3-percent decrease in the average workweek.

From February 2013 to February 2014, real average hourly earnings rose 1.1 percent, seasonally adjusted. This increase in real average hourly earnings, combined with a 0.9-percent decline in the average workweek, resulted in a 0.2-percent increase in real average weekly earnings over this period.
