Producer Price Index for final demand unchanged, January 2014–January 2015

The Producer Price Index for final demand did not change from January 2014 to January 2015. The index for final demand goods fell 3.7 percent over the same period. Within goods, producer prices for energy declined 22.2 percent.

Prices for final demand services increased 2.0 percent from January 2014 to January 2015. Prices for trade services rose 4.4 percent over the 12-month period. Trade indexes measure changes in the margins wholesalers and retailers receive. The margin is the difference between the price a wholesaler or retailer paid for an item and the selling price of the item.
