Working in the 21st Century U.S. Department of Labor & Bureau of Labor Statistics View of Earth from Space

Earth from Space and Faces of Workers To succeed in the 21st century, our workforce must be able to anticipate and swiftly adapt to changes in our economy - changes in how we work, where we work, and how we balance our professional and family lives. As the following pages show, many of the changes are dramatic. We cannot simply react to these changes; we must anticipate them. The mission of the Department of Labor's 21st Century Workforce Office is to ensure that every worker is able to enjoy a career that is as fulfilling and financially rewarding as possible. To paraphrase President George W. Bush, we need to ensure that no worker gets left behind.
