Key characteristics of fatal work injuries in Pennsylvania, 2010
- Men accounted for 91 percent (199) of the work-related fatalities in Pennsylvania. Twenty women were fatally injured on the job.
- Workers 25-54 years old—the prime working age group—made up 54 percent, or 119, of the commonwealth's work-related fatalities.
- Two industry sectors made up 36 percent of the workplace fatalities in Pennsylvania—the construction sector and the transportation and warehousing sector (39 fatalities each).
- The transportation and material moving occupations had the highest number of workplace fatalities at 57, followed by the construction and extraction occupations with 49.
