Discontinuation of the Commissioner’s Statement (CPS)

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has discontinued the monthly Commissioner’s Statement on the Employment Situation. The final Commissioner’s Statement was issued on January 6, 2023, with the release of employment and unemployment statistics for December 2022.

BLS will continue to publish The Employment Situation news release. The content of the Commissioner’s Statement largely repeated the analysis presented in The Employment Situation news release. In addition, BLS website traffic data indicated that few people view the Commissioner’s Statement in any given month.
