Workplace homicides in 2017

In 2017, there were 458 workplace homicides. Of these, 77 were committed by co-workers or work associates, which accounted for the second largest assailant group behind robbers (128).

The majority of workplace homicides in 2017, 351, were due to shootings. Public sector workers were the victims in 75 workplace homicides; four federal government workers, 20 state government workers, and 51 local government workers.

A total of 76 victims of workplace homicides in 2017 were killed in multiple-fatality incidents; that is, incidents where at least two workers were killed.
