The labor force participation rate of mothers with infants under a year old was 56.4 percent in 2008.

There was little difference between the participation rates of married mothers of infants and those with other marital statuses. The labor force participation rate for unmarried mothers with children under a year old in 2008 was 56.8 percent. The participation rate for married mothers with children under a year old was 56.2 percent in 2008.

These data on the labor force participation of mothers are produced by the Current Population Survey. "Unmarried mothers" include never-married, divorced, separated, and widowed mothers.
