Indiana has highest share of total employment in manufacturing, April 2014

In April 2014, among all states, Indiana had the highest share of statewide total nonfarm employment in manufacturing (16.9 percent). The District of Columbia had the lowest, with 0.1 percent of total nonfarm employment in manufacturing.

In April 2014, the other midwestern states following Indiana as the state with the highest share of total nonfarm employment in manufacturing were Wisconsin (16.3 percent), Iowa (13.9 percent), and Michigan (13.6 percent).

The states following the District of Columbia as those with the lowest share of total nonfarm employment in manufacturing in April 2014 were Hawaii (2.2 percent), and New Mexico and Wyoming (3.3 percent each).
