Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages

Changes to 2012 Employment and Wages Tables

The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) has published the Employment and Wages Annual Bulletin for much of the program’s history. The E&W, as it is commonly known, was for many years the primary public source of QCEW data. It became a legacy product as online tools and the QCEW quarterly news release became available. The E&W has evolved from a dense book of tables, to a thin, heavily illustrated chart book, to an entirely web published product.

The newest improvement to the E&W comes in the form of interactive tables. The replacement tables include monthly employment and quarterly establishment and wage data for more series. The new tables include wage information for size data tables, which had not been available in the old tables. They will appear with the release of the 2012 Employment and Wages Annual Bulletin, shortly after the release of final 2012 data on September 26, 2013.

E&W Tables 1-10, (which presented annual average and size data) will be replaced with tables that provide additional content, using a new layout. For tabulation of levels, users will be directed to new interactive web tables developed by QCEW. The first version of these tables was released in May 2013. The second version will load much faster and will include size data. QCEW will continue to develop enhancements of the new tables and will announce them as they become available. Users interested in measures of change will be directed to the QCEW section of the multi-screen data retrieval tool.

E&W Tables 11-15 were based on the QCEW and Business Employment Dynamics (BED) news releases. Users will be directed to the actual news release tables via direct links.
