Over 90 percent of protective service and construction and extraction jobs require work outdoors

During 2016, 47 percent of jobs held by civilian workers required work outdoors at some point during the workday. The jobs that were most likely to require outdoor work were in construction and extraction occupations (95.1 percent) and protective service occupations (91.4 percent), followed by installation, maintenance, and repair occupations (87.3 percent) and building and grounds cleaning and maintenance occupations (77.0 percent).
