Payroll employment increases across most major industries in 2015

In 2015, total nonfarm payroll employment was up 2.65 million over the year, increasing across all major industries, except mining and logging, which lost 131,000 jobs. This loss was equal to about 14.3 percent of all jobs in the industry. Mining drove almost all of the employment trend in this sector, accounting for 129,000 of the decline.
