A look at compensation costs in aircraft manufacturing on Wright Brothers Day

December 17, 2019

We celebrate the anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first successful flight on December 17, 1903, by looking at employee compensation in the aircraft manufacturing industry. Total compensation costs for workers in aircraft manufacturing rose 22.4 percent from December 2005 to September 2019. Wages and salaries increased 44.1 percent during this time. Employer costs for benefits were about the same in September 2019 as they were in December 2005.
