ERRATA - Consumer Expenditure Public-Use Microdata
September 22, 2023

To users of the 2022 Consumer Expenditure Public Use Microdata files:

  1. MEMI files for quarters 2 and 3 of 2022 have been updated to include 9 consumer units, which were previously missing. For these 9 CUs, changes to FMLI, ITBI, ITII, NTAX, and MEMI have been made to account for missing income and tax liability data that was previously not stored due to the missing values on the MEMI files.
  2. A discrepancy in establishing the head of the tax unit in the tax estimation calculation for PUMD was discovered. As a result, tax liability data for 103 CUs located in the FMLI, ITBI, ITII, NTAX, and MEMI files have been updated. For reference, this update changed the sample mean for personal taxes from $10,595 to $10,625.
