A077 AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD SCIENTISTS
Exclude Veterinary Anatomists and Veterinary Bacteriologists (A086) and Botanists and Zoologists (A078).
Include the following occupations:
Agronomists (Crop-research Scientists)—-Conduct experiments or investigations in field-crop problems and develop new methods of growing crops to secure more efficient production, higher yield, and improved quality.
Plant Pathologists—-Conduct research in nature, cause, and control of plant diseases and decay of plant products.
Animal Scientists—-Conduct research in selection, breeding, feeding, management, and marketing of beef and dual-purpose cattle, horses, mules, sheep, dogs, goats, and pet animals. May specialize in animal nutritional research and be designated an Animal Nutritionist. Include Animal Pathologist.
Horticulturists—-Conduct experiments and investigations to determine methods of breeding, production, storage, processing, and transit of fruits, nuts, berries, vegetables, flowers, bushes, and trees.
Dairy Scientists—-Conduct research in selection, breeding, feeding, and management of dairy cattle. Study feed requirements of dairy animals and nutritive value of feed materials. Experiment with feed and environmental conditions on milk produced. Develop improved care and management of dairy herd and equipment.
Entomologists—-Study insects and their relation to plant and animal life. Aid in control and elimination of agricultural, structural, and forest pests by developing new and improved pesticides and cultural and biological methods.
