The CPI-UX1 (research index) was used to deflate
hourly earnings to 1998 dollars, prior to calculating the
growth rates.
The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979
consists of men and women who were born in the years
1957-64 and were age 14 to 22 when first interviewed in
1979. These individuals were age 33 to 41 in 1998.
Educational attainment is defined as of the 1998 survey.
Race and Hispanic-origin groups are mutually exclusive.
Totals include American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and
Asian and Pacific Islanders, not shown separately.
