This article isolates the impact of industries on overall job growth in the U.S. and Rhode Island over the economic recovery.  From June 2009 to June 2016, national employment increased 10.1 percent while employment in Rhode Island increased by 5.1 percent.  The analysis suggests had employment growth in the state’s largest sector--education and health services--matched that of the national average, the gap between overall state employment growth and the national average would have closed by more than half
