Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) System Update

The latest information regarding the revision of the SOC for 2028 is now accessible from the webpage “2028 SOC Revision” available here: https://www.bls.gov/soc/2028/2028_soc_revision.htm. The webpage contains information that was previously published in a June 13, 2024 notice titled “Federal Register Notice for the 2028 SOC.” As noted on the webpage, the SOC Policy Committee (SOCPC) is currently reviewing input stemming from the 1st Federal Register notice and conducting its own research. Once complete, the SOCPC will submit overall change recommendations to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for posting to the Federal Register. Additional information regarding publication of future Federal Register notices will be provided on the “2028 SOC Revision” webpage, once available.
