  It is not necessary to get an account to browse data, but an account is necessary to save datasets online.

To download NLS public-use data files, software or documentation

• please visit the The NLS Product Availability Center at NLSinfo.org

To apply for permission to use NLS Geocode Data:

• The NLSY79, NLSY79 Young Adult and NLSY97 geocode application document is available online at www.bls.gov/nls/geocodeapp.htm
• The process to obtain Original Cohorts geocode data is different. Information about obtaining the Original Cohorts geocode can be found at www.bls.gov/nls/origcohortgeo.htm
