and stable in 47 states and the District of Columbia. Nonfarm payroll
employment increased in 4 states and was essentially unchanged in 46
states and the District.

lower in 170, and unchanged in 27. Nonfarm payroll employment increased over the year in 34
areas and was essentially unchanged in 353.
