Employment rose 5.9 percent in Reno, Nevada, from November 2017 to November 2018

From November 2017 to November 2018, nonfarm payroll employment increased for 54 metropolitan areas and was essentially unchanged for 334 areas. The largest over-the-year percentage gains in employment occurred in Reno, Nevada (+5.9 percent), Midland, Texas (+5.7 percent), and Colorado Springs, Colorado (+5.0 percent). The largest over-the-year employment increases occurred in Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, Texas (+114,400), New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ-PA (+113,000), and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas (+94,700).

The largest over-the-year percentage increases in employment in these large metropolitan areas occurred in Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida (+4.8 percent), Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, Arizona (+4.2 percent), and Las Vegas-Henderson-Paradise, Nevada (+3.8 percent).
