The unemployment rate in November 2021 was 3.0 percent for men 45 to 54 years of age. A year earlier, in November 2020, the unemployment rate was 5.5 percent for men in this age group. The jobless rate was 8.2 percent for men ages 20 to 24; it was 11.0 percent for men in their teenage years (ages 16 to 19).

Among women, unemployment rates ranged from 3.2 percent for those ages 45–54 to 11.5 percent for teenagers in November 2021. A year earlier, women ages 45–54 had an unemployment rate of 5.5 percent, while the rate was 12.8 percent for teenage women.
In April 2020, men ages 35–44 had an unemployment rate of 10.4 percent, while the jobless rate was 12.7 percent for women in this age group. Unemployment rates were 28.4 percent for teenage men and 36.3 percent for teenage women in April of last year.
The unemployment rate for all people age 16 and older was 4.2 percent in November 2021, compared with 6.7 percent a year earlier and 14.8 percent in April 2020.
