U.S. import prices increased 0.4 percent over the month from January 2018 to February 2018. Import prices increased 3.5 percent for the 12-month period ended in February 2018.

Import prices for industrial supplies and materials, which accounted for 25 percent of the value of total imports, increased 0.3 percent in February, and 12.2 percent over the year ended in February. Within the industrial supplies and materials category, prices for imports of fuels and lubricants increased 17.4 percent over the 12 months ended in February.
Import prices for foods, feeds, and beverages rose 1.1 percent in February, and 3.5 percent over the year ended in February.
Prices for capital goods, which accounted for nearly 27 percent of total imports, were up 0.6 percent over the month, and 1.2 percent over the year.
