U.S. export prices fell 5.5 percent from August 2022 to August 2023

Prices for U.S. exports advanced 1.3 percent in August 2023, after increasing 0.5 percent the previous month. Despite the advance in August, U.S. export prices declined 5.5 percent over the past year.

Prices for agricultural exports fell 7.8 percent for the year ended in August. Prices for nonagricultural exports rose 1.7 percent in August, after advancing 0.6 percent the previous month. Despite the recent increase, nonagricultural prices fell 5.3 percent from August 2022 to August 2023.
Export prices for foods, feeds and beverages dropped 7.7 percent over the year, while prices for industrial supplies and materials dropped 13.3 percent.
Export prices for automotive vehicles, parts and engines rose 2.1 percent over the year ended August 2023, while prices for consumer goods excluding automotives rose 2.5 percent.
