National Association for Business Economics Awards BLS Team

Wednesday, November 6, 2024

The National Association for Business Economics (NABE) 2024 Abramson Award went to four Bureau of Labor Statistics employees for their publication of “A Distributional Approach to U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures: An Overview” in the journal Business Economics. Thesia I. Garner, Robert S. Martin, Brett Matsumoto, and Scott Curtin published a working paper of initial results on the BLS website in fall 2022. Periodically, results are updated on the Distribution of Personal Consumption Expenditures webpage.

NABE has presented the annual Abramson Award since 1986. The board reviews journal articles published in the four issues each year then votes to select the current recipient. The award commemorates Adolph Abramson, the founder and first president of NABE.

Robert Martin, a BLS research economist, accepted the Abramson Award on behalf of himself and his coauthors at the 66th Annual Meeting of NABE in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 30, 2024. Charles Steindel, editor of NABE's journal, presented the award.

Congratulations to the winners!
