Privacy Notice for BLS News Service Subscription Form

The information requested on the BLS News Service subscription form will be used to have selected Bureau of Labor Statistics news releases delivered via email, or to be notified of new publications and specific data summaries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is authorized to request this information under 5 United States Code (USC) section 301. Furnishing the information on this form is voluntary, however, BLS may not be able to register you for the subscription service if you fail to do so. Any disclosure of the information on this form is in accordance with the routine uses found in Privacy Act System Notice DOL/BLS-19. The primary uses of the information are to enhance customer service by improving the availability of BLS information on automated systems; to facilitate sending information about new data products to customers with corresponding interests; to provide usage statistics associated with the BLS public access Internet site, and to provide a frame from which to select an unbiased sample of customers for customer service surveys. Maintaining the names and addresses of customers requesting BLS publications enables BLS to streamline the process for handling subsequent customer inquiries and requests by eliminating duplicative gathering of mailing information.
