Corrections to Data from the Establishment Survey for Book Stores and News Dealers and for Electronic Stores

On July 6, 2012, BLS corrected data series for book stores and news dealers and for electronics stores. The series were removed from the BLS database on Friday, April 27, 2012, because of errors that resulted from the reconstruction of these series to fit the NAICS 2012 industry definitions. Estimates of employment for all employees in the industries were not affected. The series that were removed from the database and subsequently corrected are hours and earnings for all employees, employment for women employees and nonsupervisory employees, hours and earnings for nonsupervisory employees, and any series derived from them.

The corrections to these series also resulted in minor corrections at higher industry levels. These industries were sporting goods, hobby, book, and music stores and electronics and appliance stores. Corrections were minor to higher-level data series for total private; private service providing; trade, transportation, and utilities; and retail trade.
