Notice of upcoming corrections to Louisiana CES data

On June 4, 2012, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) suppressed some time series data from the Current Employment Statistics (CES) survey for the state of Louisiana and the Lafayette, Louisiana, metropolitan area. The series were suppressed following discovery of a data processing error. The affected time series are listed in the table below.

The Louisiana statewide data are suppressed from April 2010 to April 2012. The corrections to the Louisiana statewide employment series will result in employment estimates that are lower than the originally published estimates. The Louisiana employment data for these series in the January 2012 through April 2012 Regional and State Employment and Unemployment news releases should be used with caution.

Data for the Lafayette, Louisiana metropolitan area are suppressed from October 2009 through March 2010. Note that the data for the Lafayette, Louisiana metropolitan area from April 2010 forward are correct.

BLS plans to issue corrections to these series on June 15, 2012 to the CES State and Area database. News releases will not be reissued.
