What is the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase for social security?

Each year, soon after the publication of the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) data in October, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announces the amount of any annual increases in its benefit payments for the coming year. This can mean increases in payments received from Social Security's Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs. Specific information about any cost-of-living adjustments is available on the SSA website at https://www.ssa.gov/cola/.
