Notice of Publication Changes with the Release of January 2026 Data

The Current Employment Statistics (CES) program reviews the set of published series each year as part of its annual benchmarking process and provides lists of series published in each state and metropolitan area on its website.

With the release of January 2026 data, the CES State and Area program will eliminate a number of employment, hours, and earnings data series for detailed industries. Working closely with our State partners, BLS identified series for elimination due to low or declining employment or sample coverage. Data series representing all employees (regardless of industry) in states and metropolitan areas will continue to be published.

With the release of January 2026 data and the 2025 benchmark, CES will discontinue approximately 900 employment and hours and earnings series. These series will no longer be available in the BLS database at that time. A list of employment series being discontinued is available below in Table 1. A list of hours and earning series being discontinued is available below in Table 2. These tables are also available as an Excel download in the download section of this page.
