BLS provides accurate information that reflects the current state of our economy. BLS data are timely, providing the first read on the U.S. economy on prices, labor markets, and productivity. Our economic releases include seven Principal Federal Economic Indicators. We employ the latest proven statistical methods to ensure the accuracy of our measures. We follow consistent guidelines for informing users of information quality and methodology.

BLS must balance the need for timely economic reports and the accuracy of the data, which initially may be based on incomplete information. As more information becomes available, we sometimes revise our numbers. Read more about the reasons for revisions and how we report them.
