Errors in Weights Used to Calculate the Chained Consumer Price Index
BLS identified several errors with the weights used to calculate the Chained Consumer Price Index for the first quarter of 2013 through the fourth quarter of 2014. Because the indexes are chained, the 2015 indexes are also affected.
BLS plans to correct the data with the publication of December 2015 indexes on January 20, 2016. The corrected values will be flagged in the database and will be footnoted on the associated publication tables. BLS does not intend to reissue the associated CPI Detailed Reports or News Releases.
