Jennifer Edgar became the Associate Commissioner for Survey Methods Research in 2020. Dr. Edgar leads a talented group of behavioral scientists and mathematical statisticians who conduct research to evaluate and improve BLS survey programs. They also conduct methodological research on issues relevant to BLS and the production of high quality federal statistics.
Dr. Edgar previously was the Director of the Behavioral Science Research Center, overseeing qualitative and quantitative research on questionnaire design, usability, interviewer effects, measurement error, and nonresponse bias. She joined BLS in 2003 as a research psychologist after earning her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in educational research.
