Jennifer Coleman, Associate Commissioner for Compensation and Working Conditions

Jennifer Coleman

Jennifer Coleman became the Associate Commissioner for the Office of Compensation and Working Conditions in 2026. She leads the strategic direction of production, development, and research for three programs focused on pay and benefits, workplace nonfatal and fatal injuries and illnesses, and occupational requirements of work including physical demands; environmental conditions; education, training, and experience; as well as cognitive and mental demands in the United States. Her programs produce thousands of statistics for the nation by industry, occupation, and geographic areas and include the Employment Cost Index, a principal federal economic indicator.

From 2022 to 2026, she was the Assistant Commissioner in the Office of Compensation Levels and Trends. Ms. Coleman began her career at BLS in 1996 and worked for many years on the Import and Export Price Indexes until her move to the Office of Compensation and Working Conditions in 2016. Ms. Coleman received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Spanish from Mount St. Mary's University.
