Kristin Ruiz, Associate Commissioner for Technology and Survey Processing

Kristin Ruiz became the Associate Commissioner for the Office of Technology and Survey Processing in 2026. She provides strategic leadership for all Bureau IT services and technology, directs survey processing for all major statistical programs, and manages the Bureau's IT investment portfolio. Prior to joining BLS, Ms. Ruiz served at the Transportation Security Administration as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Information Technology/Deputy Chief Information Officer. She also served as the first Associate Chief Information Officer of Applications and Digital Solutions at the Department of Transportation and as the IT Portfolio Management Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services (FNCS). She has 25 years of experience with a deep understanding of the digital transformation landscape, application development, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity compliance.

Ms. Ruiz is a United States Marine Corps veteran, a George Mason University alumna, and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Business School Executive Development Program.
