Standard Occupational Classification

When is the next SOC revision?

Q.  When is the next SOC revision?

A. The next major review and revision of the SOC is expected to begin in 2024 in preparation for the 2028 SOC. Input will once again be requested from the public through the Federal Register process.  The SOCPC encourages those interested in providing input to the next revision or would like more background on the SOC to carefully review information provided in "Input Requested by the SOC Policy Committee," which is a section of "Revising the Standard Occupational Classification," a larger document that more fully describes the history and structure of the SOC.

In addition, people wishing to provide input should do so during the Federal Register comment period. To sign up to receive email notifications when the SOC webpages are updated, including the publication of Federal Register notices related to SOC revisions, enter your email address on the Subscriptions page under the “About SOC” tab.
