Revised news release dates following the 2025 lapse in appropriations

BLS will announce revised news release dates on this page as they become available. We appreciate your patience while we work to get this information out as soon as possible, as it may take time to fully assess the situation and finalize revised release dates.

Consumer Price Index (CPI)

BLS could not collect October 2025 reference period survey data due to a lapse in appropriations. BLS is unable to retroactively collect these data. For a few indexes, BLS uses nonsurvey data sources instead of survey data to make the index calculations. BLS is able to retroactively acquire most of the nonsurvey data for October. Where possible, BLS published October 2025 values for these series with the release of November 2025 data. BLS did not publish an all items or an all items less food and energy estimate for October 2025. BLS cannot provide specific guidance to data users for navigating the missing October observations.

BLS published the November 2025 CPI news release on December 18, 2025. This news release and database update did not include 1-month percent changes for November 2025 where the October 2025 data are missing.

With the November release, BLS also finalized fourth quarter 2024 Chained CPI-U data series values and updated 2025 first quarter through third quarter values. BLS has not yet determined a publication date for special research series, such as the CPI for new tenant rent and CPI for all tenant regressed rent.

Employment Situation

BLS did not publish an October 2025 Employment Situation news release. Establishment survey data from the Current Employment Statistics survey for October 2025 were published with the November 2025 data. Household survey data from the Current Population Survey were not collected for the October 2025 reference period due to a lapse in appropriations and will not be collected retroactively. For both surveys, the collection period for November 2025 data was extended.

Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS)

BLS did not publish a September 2025 Job Openings and Labor Turnover news release. Data from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey for September 2025 were published with the October 2025 data.

Producer Price Index

BLS will not produce an October 2025 Producer Price Index (PPI) news release. BLS is collecting October reference period data on a delay due to the lapse in appropriations. BLS plans to publish October data with the November 2025 PPI news release on January 14, 2026.

Real Earnings

BLS did not publish October 2025 Real Earnings data. BLS could not collect the relevant Consumer Price Index data for the October reference period due to a lapse in appropriations. BLS is unable to retroactively collect these data. BLS published the November 2025 Real Earnings news release on December 18, 2025.

State Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey

BLS will not publish a September 2025 State Job Openings and Labor Turnover news release. Data from the State Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey for September 2025 will be published with the release of October 2025 data.

State and metro employment and unemployment

BLS will not publish the October 2025 State Employment and Unemployment or Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment news releases. Establishment survey data from the Current Employment Statistics State and Area program for October 2025 will be published with the November 2025 data. Household survey data from the Current Population Survey, which serve as the primary input to the Local Area Unemployment Statistics models, were not collected for the October 2025 reference period due to a lapse in appropriations and will not be collected retroactively. For both surveys, the collection period for November 2025 data was extended, and extra processing time will be needed.

U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes

BLS will not produce an October 2025 Import and Export Price Indexes (MXPI) news release. BLS could not completely collect October 2025 reference period survey data due to a lapse in appropriations. BLS is unable to retroactively collect these data. For many indexes, BLS uses nonsurvey data sources instead of or in addition to survey data to make the index calculations. BLS is able to retroactively acquire most of the nonsurvey data for October. Where possible, BLS will publish October 2025 values for these series with the release of November 2025 data. BLS plans to publish October data with the November 2025 MXPI news release on January 15, 2026.
