Errors in 2017 Occupational Requirements Survey estimates of training and prior work experience

BLS identified errors in the 2017 duration estimates of prior work experience, pre-employment training, and post-employment training. On June 29, 2018, BLS removed 667 estimates from the public database.

The Specific Vocational Preparation estimates reflect the preparation time the worker needs to develop the skills to perform the job. The job requirement categories that make up this preparation time included minimum education level (formal degree types), pre-employment training, prior work experience, and on-the-job (post-employment) training. The errors in duration estimates did not affect estimates of Specific Vocational Preparation, the presence of prior work experience, and pre- and post-employment training.
