A045 METALLURGICAL AND MATERIALS ENGINEERS
Metallurgical Engineers—-Design and develop process methods of conversion of metals from ores into final shape. Investigate properties and treatment of metals to develop new alloys, new uses for metals and alloys, and methods of improving and producing them commercially.

Materials Engineers—-Determine the design, application, and manufacture of products made from nonmetallic rocks and minerals. Also study the design, construction, and control of equipment to manufacture these products.

(Work requires knowledge equivalent to at least that acquired through completion of a 4-year college engineering program.)
