A203 CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS AND TECHNICIANS
Perform medical laboratory procedures, experiments, and analyses specializing in clinical chemistry, microbiology, or other biological sciences under direction of a physician. Use precision instruments, such as microscopes and automatic analyzers, to analyze blood, tissues, and fluids in the human body to determine pathological condition of the body. Technologists perform the more complicated chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, and require a minimum of 4 years of post-secondary school training. Technicians perform simpler tests and generally require a lesser degree of training.
