K417 FIREFIGHTING OCCUPATIONS
Control and extinguish fires. Protect life and property. Maintain equipment as employee of city, township, or industrial plant. Respond to fire alarms, direct stream of water or chemicals onto fire, position and climb ladders. May inspect buildings for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention ordinances, issue forms to building owners listing fire regulation violations, drive and operate firefighting vehicles and equipment. May be assigned duty in marine division of fire department.
