K423 SHERIFFS, BAILIFFS, AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
Sheriffs—-Maintain law and order and serve legal processes of courts. Patrol assigned area to enforce laws, investigate crimes, and arrest violators. Drive vehicle through assigned area, observe traffic violations and issue citations. Locate and take persons into custody on arrest warrants. Transport or escort prisoners between court rooms, prison and medical facilities. Serve subpoenas and summonses.

Bailiffs—-Enforce courtroom rules of behavior and maintain order in courtroom during trial. Guard jury from outside contact.

May be designated as Parking Enforcement Officer, City Marshal, Constable, Fish and Game Warden.
