BLS Restricted Data Access

Information Overview

See the datasets available. There are three ways to access restricted BLS data: onsite at BLS, through a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC), or offsite. The method in which you can access the data will depend on the type of data you require for your project.
BLS manages a designated research area at its national office located in Washington, D.C.
The Federal Statistical Research Data Centers (FSRDCs) are managed by the U.S. Census Bureau. The Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics have agreed to make certain BLS restricted datasets available to approved researchers at FSRDCs throughout the country.
BLS offers offsite limited access to restricted data through a Virtual Data Enclave (VDE) for two surveys.
