2017 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Revision
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is a common industry classification system used by the United States, Canada and Mexico. NAICS codes are reviewed and revised every five years to keep the classification system current with changes in economic activities.
Four Industries in the 2012 NAICS structure have been expanded for 2017.
211111 - Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas Exraction
452112 - Discount Department Stores
541711 - Research and Development in Biotechnology
541712 - Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology)
Establishments that are classified in one of these four 2012 NAICS Industries are asked to select the new 2017 NAICS Industry that best describes their main business activity.
