Business Employment Dynamics

Suspension of Publication of Colorado Business Employment Dynamics Data

Second quarter 2024 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data for Colorado had significant data quality problems due to ongoing issues with the modernization of the state's unemployment insurance system. These data quality problems resulted in the suspension of publication of QCEW data for all substate areas and industry-level data in Colorado. For more information see https://www.bls.gov/cew/notices/2024/suspension-of-publication-of-colorado-employment-and-wage-data.htm.

Business Employment Dynamics (BED) calculations are derived from QCEW data. Thus, the BED program cannot produce accurate industry estimates for Colorado. Effective with the release of second quarter 2024 data on January 29, 2025, the BED program will suspend the publication of Colorado industry data. BED data for the total private sector for Colorado will continue to be published as scheduled.
