Producer Price Index Industry Data - Discontinued (SIC basis) - Field Definitions

Industry

Is based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. There are 4 characters plus a "#" sign for each industry or major industry group. Major industry groups of less than 4 characters are left-justified and filled with "_" signs to reach four characters.

Product

Detailed product codes are the numerical extensions to the industry codes which designate specific products manufactured within an industry.
