Local Area Unemployment Statistics

Additional State Data from the CPS

Statewide data on various labor force characteristics are published on an annual-average basis from the Current Population Survey (CPS). The primary publications for these data are the Geographic Profile of Employment and Unemployment and Expanded Employment Status Demographic Data, as well as the Alternative Measures of Labor Underutilization.

See Notes on Using Current Population Survey (CPS) Subnational Data for additional information on the uses and limitations of statewide data from the CPS. Note that unlike the data in the Geographic Profile, data in the tables below reflect the initial population controls.

Telework or work at home for pay

BLS added new questions to the CPS starting in October 2022 that ask whether people had teleworked or worked at home for pay in the survey reference week and the number of hours teleworked.
