Mid-Atlantic: Price Movements of Top Exports and Other Highlights
July 2026
The Mid-Atlantic region, composed of Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, exported a total trade dollar value of $96.9 billion in 2025, a decrease of 3.7 percent from 2024. Export prices for chemical manufacturing, the largest export industry for the region, advanced in June. Prices for export transportation equipment manufacturing, computer and electronic product manufacturing, and machinery manufacturing also increased in June.
Top Six Mid-Atlantic Exports by Trade Dollar Value, 2025
- Overall exports from the Mid-Atlantic represented 4.5 percent of the U.S. total export trade dollar value in 2025.
- Mid-Atlantic chemical manufacturing exports accounted for 6.8 percent of the industry's total U.S. exports by trade dollar value in 2025.
- The top 6 export industries from the Mid-Atlantic accounted for 63.2 percent of the region's total 2025 export trade dollar value.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Chemical Manufacturing
- Export chemical manufacturing prices advanced 0.3 percent in June.
- The price index for chemical manufacturing exports increased 7.1 percent over the past year.
- A 17.4-percent rise in prices for resin, synthetic rubber, and artificial synthetic fibers manufacturing contributed to the advance in prices for export chemical manufacturing in June.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Transportation Equipment Manufacturing
- The price index for export transportation equipment manufacturing increased 0.5 percent in June.
- Transportation equipment manufacturing export prices rose 2.1 percent for the 12 months ended June 2026.
- A 3.4-percent rise in prices for aerospace product and parts manufacturing contributed to the 12-month advance in prices for export transportation equipment manufacturing.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing
- Computer and electronic product manufacturing export prices increased 0.6 percent in June.
- Export computer and electronic product manufacturing prices advanced 3.9 percent for the 12 months ended June 2026.
- The 12-month rise in export prices for computer and electronic product manufacturing was driven by a 6.2-percent increase in prices for export computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Machinery Manufacturing
- The price index for export machinery manufacturing advanced 0.2 percent in June.
- Export machinery manufacturing prices increased 3.4 percent from June 2025 to June 2026.
- A 7.2-percent advance in prices for commercial and service industry machinery manufacturing contributed to the 12-month rise in prices for export machinery manufacturing.
