New England: Price Movements of Top Exports and Other Highlights
July 2026
The New England region, which consists of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, and Vermont, exported a total trade dollar value of $73.2 billion in 2025, an 8.1-percent increase from 2024. Prices for the largest export industry in New England, chemical manufacturing, increased in June. Export prices for transportation equipment manufacturing as well as computer and electronic product manufacturing advanced over the same period.
Top Six New England Exports by Trade Dollar Value, 2025
- New England exports represented 3.4 percent of the trade dollar value for U.S. exports in 2025.
- The New England states accounted for 4.0 percent of the 2025 U.S. total of chemical manufacturing exports. Massachusetts alone accounted for 2.8 percent.
- The top 6 New England export industries accounted for 75.3 percent of the region's total exports in 2025.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Chemical Manufacturing
- Export chemical manufacturing prices advanced 0.3 percent in June.
- The price index for chemical manufacturing exports increased 7.1 percent over the past year.
- A 17.4-percent rise in prices for resin, synthetic rubber, and artificial synthetic fibers manufacturing contributed to the advance in prices for export chemical manufacturing in June.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing
- Computer and electronic product manufacturing export prices increased 0.6 percent in June.
- Export computer and electronic product manufacturing prices advanced 3.9 percent for the 12 months ended June 2026.
- The 12-month rise in export prices for computer and electronic product manufacturing was driven by a 6.2-percent increase in prices for export computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Transportation Equipment Manufacturing
- The price index for export transportation equipment manufacturing increased 0.5 percent in June.
- Transportation equipment manufacturing export prices rose 2.1 percent for the 12 months ended June 2026.
- A 3.4-percent rise in prices for aerospace product and parts manufacturing contributed to the 12-month advance in prices for export transportation equipment manufacturing.

New England Chemical Manufacturing Exporting States by Trade Dollar Value, 2025
- Exports of chemical manufacturing from Massachusetts alone accounted for 11.1 percent of total New England exports in 2025.
- Massachusetts ranked eleventh among all U.S. states and territories in exports of chemical manufacturing in 2025.
- The total value of chemical manufacturing exports from New England increased 20.5 percent in 2025 compared to 2024.
