Pacific Northwest: Price Movements of Top Exports and Other Highlights
July 2025
Exports from the Pacific Northwest—composed of Washington, Oregon, and Alaska—totaled $97.8 billion in 2024, up 3.9 percent from 2023. The price index for the top export industry in the Pacific Northwest, transportation equipment manufacturing, recorded no change in June. Export prices for crop production also recorded no change in June, while prices for export machinery manufacturing advanced. Prices for export computer and electronic product manufacturing decreased over the same period.
Top Six Pacific Northwest Exports by Trade Dollar Value, 2024
- Exports from the Pacific Northwest represented 4.7 percent of U.S. exports by trade dollar value in 2024.
- Transportation equipment manufacturing was the largest 2024 export industry in the Pacific Northwest, with the region representing 8.4 percent of total U.S. exports by trade dollar value for the industry.
- The top 6 export industries from the Pacific Northwest accounted for 75.5 percent of the region's total 2024 export trade dollar value.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Transportation Equipment Manufacturing
- The price index for export transportation equipment manufacturing recorded no change in June.
- Transportation equipment manufacturing export prices rose 2.8 percent for the 12 months ended June 2025.
- A 3.7-percent rise in prices for motor vehicle parts manufacturing contributed to the 12-month advance in prices for export transportation equipment manufacturing.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing
- Computer and electronic product manufacturing export prices edged down 0.1 percent in June.
- The monthly decrease in export prices for computer and electronic product manufacturing was driven by a 0.8-percent decline in prices for export communications equipment manufacturing.
- Export computer and electronic product manufacturing prices advanced 0.6 percent for the 12 months ended June 2025.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Crop Production
- Crop production export prices recorded no change in June.
- Higher export oilseed and grain farming prices offset lower prices for export fruit and tree nut farming in June.
- Export prices for crop production was unchanged over the past 12 months.
U.S. Export Price Indexes: Machinery Manufacturing
- The price index for export machinery manufacturing advanced 0.5 percent in June.
- Export machinery manufacturing prices increased 1.5 percent from June 2024 to June 2025.
- A 3.9-percent advance in prices for industrial machinery manufacturing contributed to the 12-month increase in prices for export machinery manufacturing.
