Pacific Northwest: Price Movements of Top Exports and Other Highlights

Exports from the Pacific Northwest—composed of Washington, Oregon, and Alaska—totaled $99.9 billion in 2025, up 2.4 percent from 2024. The price index for the top export industry in the Pacific Northwest, transportation equipment manufacturing, advanced in March. Export prices for crop production and food manufacturing also increased over the same period. In contrast, prices for export computer and electronic product manufacturing decreased in March.

Top Six Pacific Northwest Exports by Trade Dollar Value, 2025

  • Exports from the Pacific Northwest represented 4.6 percent of U.S. exports by trade dollar value in 2025.
  • Transportation equipment manufacturing was the largest 2025 export industry in the Pacific Northwest, with the region representing 10.9 percent of total U.S. exports by trade dollar value for the industry.
  • The top 6 export industries from the Pacific Northwest accounted for 76.8 percent of the region's total 2025 export trade dollar value.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Transportation Equipment Manufacturing

  • The price index for export transportation equipment manufacturing increased 0.2 percent in March.
  • Transportation equipment manufacturing export prices rose 2.6 percent for the 12 months ended March 2026.
  • A 3.7-percent rise in prices for motor vehicle body and trailer manufacturing contributed to the 12-month advance in prices for export transportation equipment manufacturing.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing

  • Computer and electronic product manufacturing export prices declined 0.4 percent in March.
  • The monthly decrease in export prices for computer and electronic product manufacturing was driven by a 3.5-percent decline in prices for export semiconductor and other electronic component manufacturing.
  • Export computer and electronic product manufacturing prices advanced 0.2 percent for the 12 months ended March 2026.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Crop Production

  • Crop production export prices advanced 1.0 percent in March.
  • The monthly rise in export prices for crop production was driven by a 2.8-percent advance in prices for soybean farming.
  • Export prices for crop production increased 3.4 percent over the past 12 months.

U.S. Export Price Indexes: Food Manufacturing

  • Food manufacturing export prices advanced 0.8 percent in March.
  • The monthly rise in export prices for food manufacturing was driven by a 2.5-percent advance in prices for dairy product manufacturing.
  • Export prices for food manufacturing increased 3.4 percent over the past 12 months.
